early settlers cherished, or of the dark red or brown or tan sandstone they are now highly prized and priced. The design of these stone structures varied only slightly through the years. The earliest structures had a steeper roof pitch, smaller windows, a central chimney and less balanced façade. British influence soon created a hybrid style now called "German- Georgian" with chimeys moved to the gable ends, and a symmetrical façade. With the exception of added details like porches or an L-shaped extension to the basic "I-House" rural houses were built in this style from the mid-18th to the early 20th Century. Our version measures 5"x3"x5". Price $40 |
