General Store
In isolated farming communities or small towns, the general store served as a point of contact with neighbors and the outside world. The store often housed

the post office, served as a place to socialize, hear news and gossip, and provided notions, spare parts, patent medicines and other goods not made on the farm. Children were drawn by the penny candy and dazzled by the toys on display. Our typical 19th Century frame building has a second story residence and a front porch with boxes and barrels of goods for sale and a bench where you can shoot the breeze and listen to a new fiddle tune. It measures 5.5"x3"x5x5". Price: $45
